This is essentially a port of the web app, skinned for the Mac. The web and Mac versions are identical with the exception of Mac app suffering from severe lag and numerous other bugs that cause it to lock up and hang indefinitely while editing transactions. Users will eventually get to a point where it’s just easier to use the web app in Safari. Until fixes are implemented to improve the stability of the Mac app, don’t bother with it, as it only causes headaches and frustration for Mac users at this point. Requests: - Please add the ability to quick look attachments via the space bar or any other method instead of having to manually download each attachment inside transactions. - Resolve stability issues and speed up the app to be on par with the online version
I’ve been using Quickbooks Online for nearly 7 years. When they released an app for Mac, I was ecstatic. Over the years however, I have found the app to be increasingly buggy. Lately the bugs have gotten so bad that I can’t even use the app. One company will be stuck on a screen which you cannot exit. Sign out; switch companies; uninstall / reinstall the app; try on a different computer; etc. I’m unsure what the heck is going on.. but in the end it annoys the heck out of me. For the last several months, I’ve had to use a combination of the app and web browser to get anything done. And today I finally had enough. I have uninstalled the app and will switch to the web browser moving forward. To be clear - I don’t have issues accessing and using QB Online from a web browser. It is only this particular application with which I have trouble. My suggestion… stick with the browser. This is nothing more than a buggy wrapper over top of the interface you are already familiar with in your browser. There are no other features (and in fact sometimes fewer) when compared to the browser version. There is only convenience. But with bugs constantly reducing productivity? It’s just not worth it. - John
I used to use quickbooks. Droped it becuase the company did not like mac went back to it this year only to find out the company had not changed. Mac users can do much better then this program. Buggy, overpriced and a new level of old microsoft customer service. This should not be an editors pick.
I read the reviews about it crashing and decided to ignore those and at least try it. (there is a free trial after all) I couldn’t help it but laugh though when it wouldn’t even let me log in without crashing. Five times and I am done. Wow. If people can’t even get into your software, it might be time to go back to the drawing board. Sometimes you just have to laugh. And then delete it.
This app is a scam. After you pay for the service and build a good size database, Intuit will reallly put the screws to you. This is a money pit, and you would dobest to avoid it like the plague. Once you are ensconced, Intuit Will Corrpt the app, then charge you Hundreds of $$$$$$$$$$$$ to “fix” the damaged app. This is the same company that removed all the modules that you use from Turbo Tax Deluxe last year. You’ve been reminded, and you have been warned.
I can never understand why Quickbooks releases an uodate to the app, only to have it crash. It seems like every time I receive an update, it crashes. I can not use it at all now. Every time I log in, it says retrieving customer information, then it crashes and kicks me out to the login screen. After I was foolish enough to try that 5 times, I tried doing a FOrce Quit. After I tried that 2-3 times, I decided to try restarting my Mac. After that didn’t work, I deleted the app, went to the App store, and downloaded it again. Tried it, and gues what……………. It still crashes!
You’d think after so many years of making accounting software they’d be able to pull off a new version well. Not so! This thing crashes so much, bugs everywhere, support takes forever to tell you they can’t help and you should “submit a feature request” and in general, the architecture is flawed. The apps don’t work as they’re supposed to and undoing something is nearly impossible (think manual correction). Unfortunate that we’re stuck with this for a while.
I’ve been using Quickbooks Online for the last several years and have been very happy with it. Got a new accountant and he talked me into switching to the Desktop version which was a huge mistake. Trying to import my files from the online version turned out to be a disaster. Anyway, I swtiched back. Now, I have the app on my MacBook Pro and it’s very buggy. I have a closed company that I can log into and a personal account as well. I can log into both of them but the one I want to log into will not let me, it kicks me right back to the log in screen. PLEASE FIX THIS!!!
I installed this app when it was very first developed, and it worked GREAT then. With every new update that is released, this app crashes more and more often. Right when I finish filling out a 10-line invoice, it crashes and loses all my progress. Just logged in three minutes ago, and trying to send an invoice? Random logout. Click on “Clients” to view open invoices, app freezes and I have to force quite. Try to reopen the app - it opens right back to the frozen screen - FROZEN AGAIN, and I eventually have to just go to the website to create/send my invoices. I really like QuickBooks, but the increasing crashes with every update (defying the logic for releasing an update) is really making me consider switching to another service like Freshbooks. Update (4/13/16): This software has gotten so bad that even though I didn’t switch before to avoid hassles, I’ll absolutely be switching now. I can’t connect apps to my account to import expenses for tax season because - who knows? The website works terribly, the Mac app works terribly, and support is atrocious. I’ll be building my own invoicing / accounting system with WordPress and WooCommerce, and I’ll never look back to this horrible, atrocious, bug-ridden, HILAROIUSLY BAD software. Good riddance, Quickbooks.
Lots of crashes and freezing. Needs to be updated. How am I supposed to run my business with software that isn’t stable?!
This app has totally been inoperable for me for the last two months and before that it worked 50% of the time. I am defintely looking for another option for book keeping due to Quickbooks lack of concern for Mac users. Please provide a useful or at least working service for the price you charge.
Really enjoyed the QB app for Mac when it first came out and it worked. Then all of a sudden it stopped working. Could not log in - just keeps return to the sign-in screen. Reported the problem to QB weeks ago and they said to uninstall and reinstall which I did but it didn’t work and they still haven’t gotten it fixed so went back to the web version. I’d pass on this app until QB makes it stable and useable.

I use to love using this app. but for some reason now it crashes as soon as you log in. I have tried to uninstall it and reinstall it but it doesn’t work.
When I first went to quickbooks online and then downloaded the app to run on my Air, it worked great. About 2 weeks ago, it kept crashing. I deleted the app and tried to reinstall it multiple times. It would almost finish installing and just disappear. Today I got it to install again but once again it just crashes when you try to open it. Luckily I can still open it online. Somebody at quickbooks screwed up when they “updated” this app. It is now worthless.
Since the update it wont open and like others are saying, it just crashes and crashes.
It keeps crashing after logging in. It says “loading your …” and then crashes! totally useless on my mac!
This is getting crazy…at least it’s not me. PLEASE FIX THIS APP! I love the product, but I want the app to work!
